Lion-love

Courage. Generosity. Love. Creativity. Leadership. These are all attributes of Leo, and this month we have an opportunity to express these qualities ourselves and use them to change our lives, and — to whatever extent we can — to change our world.

The Leo New Moon falls on August 2nd at 4:46 PM. and gives us a blueprint for the month ahead. Leo epitomizes the drive for self-expression and creativity, yet the sign is not as self-centered as many think. An artist must have an audience, and an awakened Leo deeply appreciates each member of that audience as a unique and treasured expression of the human spirit.

A Leo New Moon gives us an opportunity to treasure others in our lives as valued individuals, even if their opinions and approach to life differs from our own. We can work on overcoming the very human tendency to “other” those with whom we disagree. At the core of othering we invariably find fear — fortunately, the antidote to fear is yet another attribute of Leo — courage.

Fear is an inevitable part of life in time and space, but many of our fears are children of our imaginations, blown out of all proportion, and disconnected from reality. There are evolutionary, neurological reasons for that tendency, but anyone following a spiritual path is likely to embrace the belief that our biology can expand and grow along with our soul, if we do the work to make it happen. So do a reality check on your fears this month. Release the imaginary ones, and gather your courage to face the real ones.

One sure antidote to fear is a conviction that the trajectory of the Universe leads ultimately towards love and creativity, a conviction that is at the heart of most religions. Only experience can lead us to this certainty, but once reached, it is an awareness that burns with an inextinguishable fire, like the Sun. The only reliable way I’ve found to gain the necessary experience is by actively seeking it, intellectually and emotionally. Don’t let yourself be steered by the negativity so prevalent in our world. It doesn’t have to be this way, and it changes one person at a time.

Personally, I was first guided towards a more expansive and hopeful view of the world when I read the Seth material by Jane Roberts, which gave me insight into how it might be true that the basic spin of the Universe is creative and beneficent, despite — and without dismissing — the evidence of pain in our lives. (Seth Speaks is a good place to start). Since then, experiences of magic, music, ritual, and the natural world have deepened my understanding of this truth, have let me approach it from the heart. Putting it into words is difficult — this truth must be felt and known. But Seth made a good attempt at explaining it:

“Your spirit joined itself with flesh, and in flesh, to experience a world of incredible richness, to help create a dimension of realities of color and of form. Your spirit was born in flesh to enrich a marvelous area of sense awareness, to feel energy made into corporeal form. You are here to use, enjoy, and express yourself through the body.

“You are here to aid in the great expansion of consciousness. You are not here to cry about the miseries of the human condition but to change them when you find them not to your liking through the joy, strength and vitality that is within you, to create the spirit as faithfully and as beautifully as you can in flesh.”

From The Nature of Personal Reality: A Seth Book by Jane Roberts

We will all find our individual paths to this joy and vitality — if we choose to claim it as our birthright. Give these ideas some thought this month, and consider how your own path is unfolding in front of you.

And on the national stage…

Individuals can take the promises of a chart and run with them, consciously working to create the most positive outcome. This is not the case on a larger, national and global scale. When the New Moon chart is cast for Washington, DC, it is predictive for the country, and the country’s difficult national conversations continue this month, with confusion, deception, disillusionment and religious and legal nitpicking featured. There is a threat of violence in this chart, environmental upheavals, and a strong signature of infectious disease is prominent. Keep your mosquito repellent handy — I expect we’ll be hearing a lot more about Zika.

No, it’s not a pretty picture, but look on the bright side — it gives you plenty of choices about what you want to start changing! The overall problematic outlook for the country also does NOT mean your life is going to fall apart, or that good things won’t happen. Don’t focus on the problems more than is necessary to develop solutions, and remember that not all problems are yours to solve.

We have some hard lessons to learn as a country, and this chart puts them front and center. Keep Seth’s advice in mind, remember it is important for each of us as individuals to take the high road in any situation we are involved in, because that’s the way we change things. What’s the high road? It’s not usually the easy way out. If you’re unsure, then it’s past time to take a long hard look at your core values and think about what really matters to you so you can find the road you want to be on.

Your birth chart is your soul’s map for this lifetime, and can be a big help in working your way through to a more expanded understanding of your life purpose, core values, and karmic challenges and rewards in this lifetime. If you’d like to know more, contact me and we’ll set up a consultation.
